Lighting should accommodate the changing shape and form of plants and trees throughout the seasons and their lives and provide true colour rendering to show of nature at its best and every effort should be made to present the effect but hide the source.

We may be invited to light an existing garden or to work with a garden designer on their plans for new spaces as the photographs of finished projects show.
When we start the process we look for the predominant planting and features to guide the eye around a space from within and without; the resultant lighting effect should be balanced side to side and from the nearest to the furthest point.
The lighting should allow for concourse around pathways and changes of level and define and add to those areas where social interaction takes place such as terraces and garden buildings.
The lighting can pick up the shape and form of interesting architectural features such as statuary, planters, gateposts, gazebos and trellis work and produce dramatic shadow effects; it can show off the movement and expanse of water and water features as well as highlighting the change brought about to these surfaces by the seasons.
